Almost done! I like this one better. I plan to build one more, normal chair height, with simpler detailing, and hopefully a viable production product.
I am job hunting now, too. Going to Lexington, MA for New Year's.
Remember when I used to write a lot?
Busy....
I used to live in New York City. I designed homes for the tycoons of Wall Street; Park Avenue, Scarsdale, Greenwich. It was great fun. And, after years of saving up for a down payment, I was just about to buy my own little place in Fleetwood, half an hour north of the city, when the economy fell apart. Architects are like canaries in a coal mine when the economy slows, and true to form, there were massive layoffs in firms all over the country. Devastation of the profession. So, I decided to try to find something else to do for a while. I bought a 23' school bus and I'm on the road to see if I can figure out what that might be.

You're too cool. Why'd you wait so long? Man, you need to buy a little land out here and build you a house full of your own chairs. You wouldn't believe the number of made-by-hand crafters in this town. I have now met... jesus, 20? At least?

Wow, thanks Eli! Well, I do want to keep doing this. I've got to workout a "production model", which is the next chair I already have on the drawing board. We'll see if I can actually make a living at this. I'm also following up some leads on work. Details at 11.
